Sleep, Beloved.

A Tokyo sanctuary 18 years in the making — nemcaro LAB opens in Ebisu on June 15, 2026.
There is a question we rarely ask ourselves anymore.
When was the last time you truly loved going to sleep?
Not collapsed. Not surrendered. Not numbed by a screen until your body gave in. But genuinely, deliberately loved the act of falling asleep — the textures, the sounds, the scents, the slow softening of the mind as the day releases its hold.
For most of us in the modern world, that question feels almost archaic. We have optimized everything else — our work, our travel, our nutrition, our fitness — but sleep, the very foundation of our lives, has been reduced to whatever happens between closing one tab and opening the next.
We at CROIX Co., Ltd. have spent eighteen years quietly working on a different answer.
And on Monday, June 15, 2026 — a date considered especially auspicious in the Japanese calendar — we are opening a place in Tokyo where the world we have been building can finally be felt by every sense at once.
Its name is nemcaro LAB. It is located in Ebisu, one of Tokyo’s most refined neighborhoods. And we believe it is unlike any wellness destination you have encountered before.
What is nemcaro?

Before we describe the space, let us tell you about the philosophy behind it.
nemcaro is not a single product. It is not a mattress brand, or a sound machine, or a sleepwear line. It is a complete sensory ecosystem dedicated to a single, almost forgotten human pleasure: loving the act of sleep.
The name itself reflects this duality. Nemu comes from the Kyushu dialect of Japanese, meaning to sleep. Caro is Latin, meaning beloved or dear. Together: the beloved act of sleeping.
The nemcaro world is composed of carefully designed elements, each one developed in dialogue with the others:
- Sound — Spatial audio devices powered by what we call Medicinal Music, a proprietary framework developed across three decades of acoustic research.
- Bedding & Pillows — Designed to support the body’s natural alignment, marrying biomechanical precision with deep tactile comfort.
- Sleepwear — Garments developed with senior leaders from Japan’s most respected fashion houses, engineered to dissolve the boundary between cloth and skin.
- Aromatics — Botanical compositions formulated to ease the autonomic nervous system into rest.
- Light Devices — Lighting that harmonizes with the body’s circadian rhythm.
- Raw Food — Plant-based, additive-free nourishment that prepares the body internally for deep rest.
These are not products that simply happen to share a logo. They are modules of a single operating system for sleep. Sound alone will not heal a tense body. Bedding alone will not quiet a restless mind. But when all five senses are addressed with the same level of care — when each element supports the others — something profound happens. The boundary between trying to sleep and being held by sleep simply dissolves.
This is what we mean when we say nemcaro is built around one promise:
Sleep, beloved.
Why a Japanese company spent 18 years on this
A brief word about who we are, because we believe context matters.
CROIX Co., Ltd. was founded in 2009 and is now in its 18th fiscal year. Our flagship music brand, RELAX WORLD, has produced more than 20,000 original compositions — among the largest catalogues of functional and healing music in the world. Our music has been chosen as the sonic foundation for some of the most discerning environments on earth: ANA airlines, Hoshino Resorts, TBS broadcasting, and Fitbit’s wellness platform, among others.
I founded the company. My name is Bajune Tobeta. As a composer, I worked alongside Ryuichi Sakamoto for many years, and have collaborated with international artists including Christian Fennesz, Arto Lindsay, Joyce Moreno, and Jaques Morelenbaum. I composed the music for the Katamari Damacy video game series, and have received the Encouragement Award from the ITU Association of Japan for contributions to the field of healing music.
What ties this all together — the music career, the global brand partnerships, the eighteen years of research — is a single conviction:
Sound is not entertainment. Sound is medicine.
Not in a metaphorical sense. In a measurable, physiological sense. Specific frequencies, tempos, timbres, and spatial arrangements act upon the autonomic nervous system, influence the secretion of stress hormones, and shape the architecture of sleep itself. We have built our company around this insight, and we call our discipline Medicinal Music.
nemcaro is the consumer expression of that philosophy — and nemcaro LAB is the place where you can finally experience it with your entire body.
The voices behind nemcaro
A serious approach to wellness requires serious collaborators.
Our work is supported by two distinguished medical experts. Dr. Hiroshi Bando, a leading physician in the field of integrative medicine, serves as a senior fellow. Dr. Nobuaki Tanaka, director of Besli Clinic and a respected psychiatrist, brings clinical insight into how sound, light, and sensory environments affect mental wellbeing.
On the design and craft side, our advisor is Mr. Yasuo Yamada, formerly President of Tokyo Style Co., Ltd. (now TSI Holdings), one of Japan’s most influential figures in fashion and retail. His decades of experience inform every detail of our sleepwear development, from textile sourcing to silhouette.
A scientist, an artist, and a craftsman of style. nemcaro lives at the intersection of these three forms of knowledge — and nemcaro LAB is where they finally take spatial form.
What nemcaro LAB actually is
We hesitate to call nemcaro LAB a spa. The word, while familiar, doesn’t quite capture what happens inside.
A spa, in the conventional sense, is a place where treatments are performed upon you, often with music playing softly in the background. At nemcaro LAB, we have inverted that relationship entirely.
Here, the sensory environment is the treatment. Everything else supports it.
The moment you step into nemcaro LAB, you enter a fully composed sensory architecture. Advanced spatial audio technology, developed in partnership with leading acoustic engineers, fills the room with a sound field unlike anything available in conventional wellness settings. The fragrance has been formulated specifically for the space. The lighting follows the rhythm of your nervous system, not the other way around. Even the materials your skin touches — the linen of the gowns, the weave of the sheets — have been chosen as part of the same sensory composition.
Within this environment, you may choose from several pathways:
1. The Sensory Reset
A 45 to 90 minute experience designed to gently restore the five senses to their natural state. Most modern lives are spent in a condition of sensory overload — sounds we did not choose to hear, lights that do not match our biological rhythm, scents that have nothing to do with wellbeing. The Sensory Reset is a chance to remember what it feels like when each sense is given exactly what it needs.
2. Hands-on Treatments
Each treatment is performed in full coordination with the sound, scent, and light of the environment. The therapist is not a soloist; they are part of an ensemble.
- Head Massage — Releases the tension that thought leaves behind
- Seitai (Japanese Body Alignment) — Restores the body’s natural axis
- Reflexology — Connects the body’s periphery to its core
- Facial Acupuncture (optional) — Deeply relaxes the muscles of expression
3. The Nap Room
Some guests do not come for treatment. They come simply to sleep — for twenty minutes, for an hour, sometimes for two. The nap rooms at nemcaro LAB are private sanctuaries equipped with the full nemcaro environment: bedding, sound, scent, light, and sleepwear. Whether you are between meetings, recovering from an international flight, or preparing for an important moment, you can step inside, close the door, and emerge changed.
4. The nemcaro Showroom
Every product in the nemcaro family is available to experience in its proper context. You may try the sleepwear in the changing rooms. You may rest your head on the pillows. You may breathe the aromatics. You may listen to the spatial audio devices in a controlled acoustic environment. Should anything resonate, it may be purchased on site or shipped to your home anywhere in the world.
A note for international visitors
If you are visiting Tokyo from abroad, nemcaro LAB has been designed with you specifically in mind.
We understand that traveling — especially the long, dehydrating, time-zone-disrupting kind — places real strain on the body. Jet lag is not simply tiredness; it is a temporary disruption of the autonomic nervous system, exactly the kind of state that the nemcaro environment is designed to address.
Many of our international guests visit nemcaro LAB within their first 48 hours in Tokyo, as a way to recalibrate quickly and arrive at the rest of their trip already restored. Others come on their final day, as a way to bring something of Japan home with them — not a souvenir, but a state.
English is fully supported. Bookings can be made entirely in English through our website. Our team is experienced in welcoming guests from around the world, and is happy to consult with you in advance regarding which experience would best suit your needs and schedule.
What we learned by the sea

Earlier this year, we hosted an intimate event in the seaside village of Hayama, just south of Tokyo. We called it nemcaro Sleep Retreat — Seaside Earthing.
The weather did not cooperate with our plans. We had imagined a sunlit afternoon by the coast; instead, the day was overcast and rain fell gently throughout. Our staff were quietly worried.
What happened, however, taught us something we did not expect.
With the visual drama of bright sunshine and blue sky removed, our guests’ senses turned inward and downward — toward the layered textures of sound. The rain on the roof. The waves on the shore. The pure tones of the crystal singing bowls played by our guest musician. And, underneath it all, the gentle presence of the nemcaro audio environment.
The aromatics of nemcaro mingled with the salt in the air. The raw, vegan sweets prepared by our chef, Mai, offered a sweetness that came not from sugar but from the integrity of each ingredient. Our prototype sleepwear, soft against the skin, kept everyone gently warm.
The five senses did not just integrate. They began to dissolve into one another. Guests reported that they could no longer tell whether they were listening, breathing, feeling, or simply being.
That is the state we wish to offer. And nemcaro LAB is the place where, from June 15 onward, anyone — local or visitor — can step into that state in the middle of Tokyo.
An invitation: Preview Sessions before the public opening
Before nemcaro LAB officially opens to the public on June 15, we are hosting a limited series of preview sessions from Monday, May 19 to Thursday, May 22, 2026.
These sessions are reserved by invitation and prior arrangement, and offer:
- A 60 to 90 minute personalized experience
- Acoustic and aromatic customization to your current condition
- A private conversation with our team about what you experienced
- Priority booking for the public opening
These preview sessions are intended for members of the press, professionals in the medical and wellness industries, and longtime supporters of the nemcaro brand. International visitors with prior interest in our work are warmly welcomed to inquire.
Who should come
We have built nemcaro LAB with several kinds of guests in mind:
- The executive for whom sleep has become the limiting factor in their performance
- The traveler crossing time zones who wishes to arrive somewhere truly restored
- The wellness enthusiast who has already tried what is widely available and is searching for something deeper
- The creative or artist whose work depends on a clear, regulated nervous system
- The thoughtful gift-giver seeking an experience for someone they love
- And above all — anyone who senses, even faintly, that their relationship with sleep deserves to be reclaimed
Sleep is one-third of your life. It is also one-third of your art.
We spend roughly a third of our existence asleep.
Some treat this as a kind of biological tax — a necessary pause before the real life resumes. Others, increasingly, are beginning to understand that this third is not a pause at all. It is the foundation upon which the other two-thirds rest. It is where memory consolidates, where the body repairs, where the mind metabolizes its experiences and prepares for what is next.
To love this third of your life is not a luxury. It is, perhaps, the most strategic act of self-care available to a modern person.
Eighteen years of research, composition, partnership, and quiet conviction now converge in a single physical space in Ebisu, Tokyo.
We hope you will visit us.
